Did you know Crazy2Calm has classes specifically designed for service dogs, starting from the early puppy days all the way through a fully trained service dog? We can help guide you through the process so you can avoid some of the most common mistakes, including the following:
Inconsistent training is a huge issue, especially when our health fluctuates. Having a plan in place for difficult days helps maintain consistency, and we can help you create a plan that works for you.
Public access without burning out you or your dog is important, and it will probably look a little different than you think. We can help you build those skills in a way that supports both members of the team.
Both over-socialization and under-socialization can create challenges. A dog that is too friendly or too shy may struggle in working situations. We can teach you how to find that healthy middle ground.
Rest is extremely important for puppies. Our classes teach you how to balance rest, play, and learning so your puppy doesn’t become overwhelmed.
We’ll teach you how to prevent unwanted behaviors, or, when necessary, how to manage them while teaching a better alternative behavior.
Separation anxiety can be a huge challenge for both handlers and service dogs. We’ll help teach your team how to manage situations where separation may happen, when a crate may be helpful, and when another option might be a better fit.
We also teach proper environmental exposure without unnecessarily putting your puppy at risk of disease. This may look different from more “traditional” programs because we care about your dog’s overall health and wellbeing, not exposure at any cost.
We’ll help you become more aware of stress signals so you can respond early and prevent your puppy from becoming overwhelmed.
Task foundation skills, like tug and fetch, begin as games. We save the more serious task work for when your puppy is physically and emotionally ready for that responsibility.
Especially with puppies, we don’t expect perfection. We expect progression, and we can help you build that progress across all of these areas with our proven methods.
